The Angel of Hope is a powerful angel created for Treehouse by artist Susan Hartzell Vannelli, founder of The Dancing Paintbrush. The Angel of Hope is a guardian angel created to watch over the children at Treehouse, and Vannelli created this angel by focusing on essence of Treehouse…the children. This angel, “protector” in many ways, represents children coming and going out of Treehouse and it being a safe place for them. The root of this angel, just like the root of Treehouse, stems from the heart of God. In the painting, the angel’s heart, or the heart of God, symbolizes the wonderful work that Treehouse does, work that comes from the heart. The left side of the painting, with the large singular circle wing, symbolizes the cast that supports Treehouse, from the employees to board members to all those involved. These people all support the organization, bringing Treehouse’s mission to life. The color green on the left side symbolizes the growth of the organization and the goal to spread their message globally. The right side of the painting, with the three circles, represents the life/healing journeys each of the children are on. Each circle, just as each journey, returns to the heart of God, where the Treehouse vision is fulfilled.

Sue is a supporter and contributor to the Andrew and Abby Szott Foundation, a foundation that provides the gift of time that allows one parent to stay home from work full-time to meet the emotional, physical and medical needs of a child with life-threatening cancer. In 2006, Sue painted "Amazing Love" for the Szott Foundation, and the two angels represent Andrew and Abby.
In 2008, Sue donated the use of "Circle of Friends,” which represents the gathering of all the amazing people who have helped move the Szott Foundation forward.
